A new addition to the Home.

Representative from Age Concern called today to measure up for my husband's stair lift. It was interesting, the shape of the stairs recorded on his computer digitally so that when built is it accurate to the mm.

Husband already complaining that it will move so slowly he will be a week older before he reaches the top.

It is great step to have the safety of the chair lift. I reread the first chapter of River D. I loved the description of the relationship between Crake and the boy and the boy and the horse. Really enticing. Hugs, later, Jane Adams

I am sure that once he tries it out he will like how convenient it will be. Best of luck!

Thanks, Murees, he has fallen a couple of times, has no balance any more, due to back injury, so it will a relief to have the chair lift.

J.A. thanks for your support, after having had a break from writing for so long, it is very hard to get back into it.

Hi Carole .. my uncle had one installed for my aunt - she never used it .. refused to come down stairs. Then it was my uncle's turn - he too wouldn't use it ... the hoover used it!!!!!

But they certainly help - if we're willing to give them a try ... I expect your husband will be grateful for the carry up and down ... and they're amazing how they can make these things go round corners aren't they ..

Cheers Hilary

Hi Hilary, That was a waste of money for your uncle and aunt, wasn't it! My husband is fit, apart from a spine op due to a sport's injury, and connected with that he now has no balance. He bumps into the furniture, soon he won't be able to come downstairs safely. We are installing it because he refuses to move to a bungalow or spend the rest of his life on the ground floor of our home. ☺

It's going to make life a lot easier for him. My MIL loved her stair lift. She felt like she'd been given some independence.

You are right, Joylene, that fact that he can't walk very far is really depressing him, but most of the time we laugh a great deal, and as you say, that chair lift will provide him with independence. And it will be excellent for carrying my washing basket up and down stairs. :0)

I can see it in one of your books -- the royal king that got to ride a special chair up to his room. -- barbara

He says he has never been called a king before but he loves the idea! Thank you, Barbara, and yes, a wonderful idea for a story.
