The Lucky 7 MEME Challenge

I have been tagged by the multi-tallented Eve Gaal,  who has been account executive, model, has worked in advertising, real estate, and public relations, and is presently a freelance writer, author, and poet.

Her writing covers many genres, both fiction and non-fiction, and includes romance and fairy tales. I am particularly interested in fairy tales, being a children's author, and her latest story is to be found in the Kindle Edition of Open Doors, an anthology compiled by Wayne Publishing and is available from Amazon.

Lucky 7 MEME was initially created for writers and so here are the rules:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS. If you don't have 77 pages yet then pick page 7…or 17…or 27…
2. Go to line 7.
3. Copy down the next 7 lines ( sentences or paragraphs) and post them as they’re written.
4. Tag 7 writers and let them know.

‘Heard you were the new Task Bearer, been chosen, like,’ interrupted Fox-Head.  ‘So we made sure we brought you back to the church – needed to get you through the door into the Other World before it was too late – before Thin Time ends.’

‘Before the door closes,’ squeaked Bat-Ears excitedly. He was jumping up and down with excitement and didn’t see Matilda behind him until it was too late.  Clipping him on the ear, she sent him bowling along the pavement and hauled me to my feet, her face crumpled with anger.

‘What do you want, Gargoyle?’ she demanded, looking down at Fox-Head. Planting her hands on her hips, she tapped her foot on the pavement.  ‘You know full well that your kind is forbidden to enter here. Be off with you and keep watch for enemies as you are bidden!’

‘Yes, Mistress, we know we shouldn’t be here,’ Fox-Head said in a wheedling voice, ‘but we were terrible worried when we heard our Master the Green Man was in some sort of trouble – with the seeds being awfully late this year.  He cares for us, ugly as we are, always goes out of his way to speak to us, listens to our problems, never too proud to pass the time of day.  So we wanted to help, seeing as how this girl,’ he nodded towards me, ‘well, she’s not much of a hero, so to speak.’

Anger flared up inside me at all the horrible things I’d had said to me.  I’d had enough insults, first from Fymm and now from this gargoyle.  'How do you know I’m not a hero?’ I protested.  Then I wished I hadn’t said anything, for Fox-Head swivelled round, his sharp eyes watching me.  I coughed and tried to pretend I hadn’t spoken.

‘Out! Out this very minute, Gargoyle!’ Matilda shouted, pointing to the porch door. ‘Be gone with you!  The Niddhogg is up to his evil tricks, the seeds are missing, and you waste time with idle chatter. There is nothing for you here. It is not for the first time you have crept unbidden into the church.  My father is weary from chasing you.’

‘Sorry Mistress, but me and Sir Harry, we do enjoy our bit of fun,’ he said, bobbing his head respectfully to the knight, still lying on the pavement at the bottom of the steps.  ‘And it’s nippy out there, up on the tower on cold nights. Most times, it’s only a bit of a warm we’re after.  What with the frosts and the long hard winters, we’re quite worn away.’

Seven MEME Questions have to be Answered as well…

1. What is your dream vacation? The island of Lanzarote.
2. Are you spontaneous? Or do you like to plan? I plan, spontaneous is another story.
3. One thing you want to do, but don’t dare do? I dare but don't, it would be too upsetting for others.

4. What’s your biggest phobia? Used to be spiders, but as I grow older they seem less threatening.
5. If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you want with you? (not incl yr laptop or family) Things that would lead to my prompt rescue.
6. Name three blessings in your life. Faith, family, friends.

7. What was your nickname in high school? Poggen

8. If you could meet the President of the US what would you say to him?  Be brave, do what you believe to be right.

9.If you could be any literary character for a day, who would you be? Perhaps Lucy in 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe'.
10. A favorite quote? 'All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.' Mother Julian of Norwich - 14th century.

Thank you Eve for tagging me in the Lucky 7 MEME Challenge,  it has given me the opportunity to add more of Thin Time!

Here are the 7 people I’d like to tag.

It is entirely up to you whether you wish to participate, of course, and I have selected names as they appear on my list of most recent posts that were added today.
