My old 'new' car!
Four
years ago I sold my car so my invalid husband could purchase a new one,
he is not poorly enough to qualify for financial assistance as he can
walk with the aid of a walking stick. We have now managed to save up
for an old car for me, so yesterday I bought one and have transport
again. So pleased, one chuffed bunny. Good thing, I was beginning to forget how to drive

Enjoy your new old car. I know how awful it can be without transport of your own.
Yes, Madeleine, I have missed not being able to visit writing friends.
X for you Carole, enjoy your new car, who cares if it's old, if it works and you can now get out and about - brilliant!
Thank you, Carla, it will be wonderful to now be able to see friends from time to time. Such a wonderful feeling.
Hi Carole .. so pleased for you - well done and long may it prove so faithful for your travels ...
Cheers Hilary
Thank you, Hilary, it will really make a difference to my life. :0)
Nice that you have wheels again -- we are so dependent on them in this country. Enjoy! -- barbara
Thank you, Barbara, I have missed visiting friends so much.
That's wonderful! Enjoy your new old car. Maybe one day I can afford one. Being a one car family can be difficult at times!
Happy for you, Carole. Wheelers are a wonderful thing.
Christine, it is difficult, especially when you have an invalid husband who delights in taking you everywhere, but there are occasions when I need to be at a meeting on my own. Very difficult, but fingers crossed that it works.
It has been a very difficult situation, Joylene. He loves to take me everywhere, but there are times when I need to take myself, a hard balancing act.
So glad you have your car. In Oz without a car you'd be sunk.
Thanks, Denise, know what you mean, I lived in Africa for many years, so should imagine where you live is very similar.
There's nothing like having the independence a car can bring, glad to hear you have that back now.
Thank you to Happy Frog and to you. It is a tricky one to call, claiming some independence when the other person relies on you so much.
Good for you! Have fun with it!
Best wishes on your new ride! Don't forget to thank it for good behavior. I do --still driving a '71 VW Bus.
Good news. :) I feel lost when my car's at the shop. It's fantastic to have wheels.
Bit of a problem with me, Medeia, how to be independent and not upset my invalid husband, have to juggle with this.
Congratulations on getting a new car, Carole! It is such a hassle if you do not own a car personally. Moving from place to place can take up lots of time, as public transportation can sometimes be slow. Well, except for taking cabs, you would end up walking from the station to reach your destination.
I agree with Erwin. Plus, traveling privately with your husband would be fun, don't you think so? :) It's a good time for bonding. What car did you buy, by the way, Carole? I hope it's insured.
What's your new car? Are you having fun with it? Transportation is very important, you know. It’s hard to commute around especially if you have to walk very far just to ride a bus. Drive safely, always!
